Universal Acceptance is a foundational requirement for a truly multilingual Internet, one in which users around the world can navigate entirely in local languages. It is also the key to unlocking the potential of new generic toplevel domains to foster competition, consumer choice and innovation in the domain name industry.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) community has been working hard to make the Internet more open and
accessible for everyone. Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) was introduced into the cyber space, in which non-English Internet users to use their own language to access the Internet. The following challenges of Universal Acceptance to be tacked is to allow people to use IDNs and ensure that all types of top-level domains are accepted.
This session will start by introducing the current status of Universal Acceptance development, including the establishment of Universal Acceptance Steering Group in 2015 and its recent activities. The following issues will be discussed:

⚫ Business Opportunity with UA
⚫ Challenges ahead & what Taiwan’s Internet community can contribute?
