ICANN Training for European GAC Members and Newcomers

Brussels, Belgium
ICANN Speaking Events

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will hold a half-day long training workshop for European Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) Members and Newcomers at our Brussels’ Office on 9 October 2019.

The training aims to provide an overview of ICANN and its work to European Government Representatives and other interested parties. It will also include an overview of the Domain Name System (DNS) in addition to topical issues such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Active community involvement is crucial to ICANN’s multistakeholder model, which aims to provide a bottom-up policy-making process in shaping the Internet’s future. Through trainings for its stakeholders across the globe, ICANN hopes to provide clarity on the complexities and methods of its working processes to enable effective participation of potential community members.

The full agenda is available below.

Who Should Attend

• Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) members interested in getting a better idea of ICANN and its work
• Community representatives interested in the GAC’s work, or ICANN in general
• Community members from a governmental institution or organization, who would like to learn more about ICANN and its work

The training will be held in conjunction with the CENTR meeting on 9 October and will finish in time for participants wishing to attend the CENTR session for governments in the afternoon.
