DNS resolution is typically done either by Internet service provider (ISP) resolvers or by public resolvers. In January 2022, ICANN’s Office of the Chief Technical Officer (OCTO) observed that 95% of consumers served by large European Union (EU) consumer ISPs are using their ISP- provided Domain Name System (DNS) resolvers. Only about 4% of consumers served by large EU consumer ISPs are using public resolvers such as Google Public DNS (3%), Cloudflare (0.6%), and Cisco OpenDNS (0.4%). This talk will explore those findings in more details.

Speaker: Alain Durand, Principal Technologist ICANN

The presentation based on an ICANN OCTO study published in March 2022: https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/octo-032-01mar22-en.pdf
